Kid Harpoon – Stealing Cars

by MV

One of the last people I expected to graft a bit of fashionable disco pizzazz onto their sound was former acoustic troubadour type Kid Harpoon. To be fair, this is less of a radical makeover than we’ve seen this year with, say, Jack Penate, but the twinkly decorations on the chorus are a world away from the stuff seen on the Riverside and Milkmaid EPs. Whether it’s a change for the better, I’ve yet to decide. The charm’s certainly still there; the energy – not so much. In any case, it’s a very pleasing little ditty that bodes well for a presumably imminent debut album proper.
